Biography
Joseph Lombardo, a member of the Republican Party, has served as the 31st Governor of Nevada since 2023. He assumed the statewide constitutional office after defeating incumbent Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak, marking a shift in the state's executive leadership. As governor, Lombardo oversees the executive branch of Nevada's government from the state capital, Carson City.
Before entering statewide office, Lombardo spent nearly three decades in law enforcement, culminating in his tenure as Sheriff of Clark County—the state's most populous county, encompassing Las Vegas—from 2014 to 2023. He holds both a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His public service background also includes military experience in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and U.S. Army National Guard.
